Logix Employees Give at our 9/11 Remembrance Blood Drive

Every year, in remembrance of the victims of September 11, an American Red Cross team visits Logix Headquarters.  In a matter of moments, they combine two conference rooms into one bustling blood drive site.  With tons of energy, upbeat music playing, friendly chatter, and the smell of freshly baked treats, Logix employees ready themselves for their blood donation appointments.

In the months leading up to this day, our blood drive committee, led by employee volunteers, speak to employees about the importance of donating blood, how each pint of blood donated can save up to three lives, and who in our own lives have been recipients of donated blood.  There are many reasons for someone to donate blood.  Often times, it just comes down to a simple "because I can."

Through the rallying, employees sign up for a donation appointment, or if they are unable to donate, offer to volunteer on the day of the drive.  Those "freshly baked treats" mentioned earlier are made by employee volunteers, so that in addition to the snacks provided by the American Red Cross, donors can properly refuel after donating.  And, who doesn't love homemade goodies?

On this special day, our core value “Teamwork” really shines.

Over the last three years, we've averaged 68 appointments and 71 pints of blood.  For 2017, we set a blood drive goal of making 100 appointments and collecting 75 pints of blood!  That’s the potential of saving over 200 lives!  We're well on our way to exceeding that goal and are thankful for the opportunity to have the American Red Cross come on site to help us get there and give back.

If you'd like give back too by donating blood in your area, check out the American Red Cross site for tons of information about the blood donation process, eligibility requirements, and reasons to donate.  Or, find a donation site near you here.
