Sometimes a sign is much more than a sign. It’s a calling, a purpose waiting to unfold, and the beginning of something truly profound. For Shannon Curtis, that moment came when she passed the Guide Dogs of America sign during one of the most challenging seasons of her life, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. What began as an ordinary drive through the neighborhood became a turning point. What Shannon found wasn’t just a volunteer opportunity. It was hope, connection, and renewed purpose, at a time when she, and so many others, needed it most.

Lisa Merritt spent years as a successful interior designer in Los Angeles, building a life that looked perfect on paper. But each morning before work, she felt the call of something deeper. “I came from a very humble background in Florida,” she says. “I worked my way up and became what most people would consider affluent. But I was unhappy with what I was doing. It wasn’t fulfilling my soul.”

Logix Supports Homes 4 Families Builds in North Hollywood, Palmdale

In the last few months, staff supported two Homes 4 Families’ builds for veteran housing, one in North Hollywood – a 12-home community for low-income veteran families, the other in Palmdale – a 56-home CalVet REN (Residential Enriched Neighborhood) for low-income veteran families.

SCV Project Linus continues to provide support to the community through its many blankets its Chapter Coordinator Sharon Garvar and her students at Academy of the Canyons (AOC) share with local youth. This group is hosting its biannual Make a Blanket Day (MABD), sponsored by Logix Federal Credit Union, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at College of the Canyons East Gym.

On February 2, Logix Federal Credit Union was recognized as Business of the Year by the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce. More than 300 guests celebrated at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. Other honorees include Terrell Edwards Top Entertainment, the SCV Hub Virtual Food Hall, Assistance League Santa Clarita, Captain Justin Diez and Marlee Lauffer.
